We started in the mid-fifties during our high school days. We began by learning the guitar and then adding other instrument players to the group. Two of us lived on Glendale Ave., and two on Raymond Ave. in St. Paul. Thus, the name "Glenrays".
We initially played in our garages. As we got better we started drawing crowds.
We then began to play in local community centers for Friday night dances. We eventually migrated to larger venues like ballrooms and auditoriums, and traveled the 5-state area. We played at the Prom Ballroom in St. Paul weekly. We backed up popular artists of that time including; Frankie Avalon, Bobby Darin, Bobby Rydell, Bobby Vee,...and the list goes on. What fun for teenagers!
We broke up in 1960 and went our separate ways. Some band members continued to play with other bands around town.
